Quilt Raffle and Quilt Show 

Raffle tickers are being sold for a quilt made by society member Kathy Daly and quilted by another society member. The quilt measures approximately 52"x77". Procedes from this quit will go towards the monthly operational expenses of the historical society. The winner of the raffle will be drawn on Saturday, April 27, 2024 during the quilt show that will be hosted at Toad Hollar Bar and Grill in Mound City, Missouri. Quilt raffle tickets are $1 each or six for $5. You do not need to be present the day of the drawing to win. If you would like to purchase tickets please contact one of the board members.

Travis Kelce Jersey Raffle

Toad Hollar has donated a signed Travis Kelce jersey. There are only 400 tickets available for purchase. The tickets are $10 each, the drawing will be held when all 400 tickets are sold. To purchase tickets please contact Toad Hollar Bar and Grill in Mound City, or email the Historical Society and we will get you set up with tickets. 

The drawing for the jersey was held during half time of the 2024 Super Bowl Game at Toad Hollar Bar and Grill in Mound City. The raffle tickets raised about $3,000  for the Historical Society. 

"Heels" and History 

The Holt County Missouri Historical Society helped collect socks for children for the Holt County Toy Fund. There were collection boxes placed at the Nutrition Site in Mound City and "Sock Christmas Tress" were located at the Trinity Lutheran Church and Toad Hollar Bar and Grill in Mound City. The socks were collected at all three locations on Wednesday, November 15, by society board members. There was a total of 645 pairs of socks collected to be distributed to area children by the Holt County Toy Fund. 

2023 Annual Meeting Held

The socitey held its Annual Meeting on Sunday, November 12, 2023 at the New Life Apostolic Church in Mound City. Socitey Board member, Nancy Peters, prented a wonderful program on Corning, MO, and steamboats that were in the Holt County area. The 2024 slate of officers and board members was presented and approved. The officers and board members for 2024 are as follows:

Tristar Over/Under Shotgun Raffle Drawing - Winner

The Holt County Missouri Historical Society is raffling off a Tristar Over/Under shotgun. The drawing for the gun will take place on the last night of the Holt County AutumnFestival in September 2023. Bradley Kurtz of Oregon, MO was the winner of the shotgun raffle. 

Car Show 

The first annual History and Horsepower Car Show was a huge success. It was held at the depot grounds in Mound City on Saturday, August 19. There were a total of 78 entries of cars, semi trucks, UTVs, motorcycles and tractors. A belt buckle donated by Dusty Livengood was presented as the People's Choice award along with trophies for each class. The society wishes to thank all those who donated their time, resources and talents to hep us to make a great event. A very special thank you to board member Annie Hall for all of her hard work on this event. 

Christmas Around the Square

The HCMHS had a booths at Christmas Around the Square on Thursday December 1, 2022, at the TJ Hall building in Oregon, MO. We had a large selection of crafts for sale along with our first edition Christmas ornament. 

Christmas Lunch and 50 year Celebration 

Society board members and volunteers gathered together at Toad Hollar Bar and Grill on Sunday, December 4, 2022, to celebrate Christmas and 50 years of the society being in existence. Those in attendance enjoyed lunch together, telling stories and reminiscing about past activities of the society. A 50-year celebration was donated by Annie and John Hall and enjoyed by everyone. Heres to another 50 years of keeping Holt County history alive!


Annual Meeting Held 

The Holt County Missouri Historical Socitey held its annual meeting on Sunday, November 6, 2022. A program was given by Nancy Nauman about World War II Veteran S1C Wilbur Francis Newton, United States Navy, who was killed during the attack on Pearl Harbor. Business meeting was conducted and the new slate of officers and board members for the 2023 year were announced. 

President Angela Brook, Vice President Norma McCurry, Secretary Nancy Nauman, and Treasurer Janie Thomas. Board members: Carolyn Fansher, Jason Finney, Annie Hall, Nathan Livengood, and Nancy Peters.
